Our Mission
Historically Modern is a twelve-month long project organized by a recent MA graduate who wanted to challenge the institutional barrier between scholarship and the wider public. Together with a small (but mighty) team of female historians, this is a community driven site created to make academic conversations and research more accessible. Each month, one collaborator will publish an article on any area of history as it relates to modern living, whether commenting on pop culture, cultural debates, or new technology. These short articles are meant to be casual introductions to the next generation of female researchers, who each have a minimum Master's Degree in history (or a related field), writing on a topic within their scope and specializations. While this is not a peer-reviewed site, this project is dedicated to producing quality content, and we hope that each article sparks conversations, inspires learning, and challenges preconceived notions about history's relevance today.
